Sacramental Programme
Sacramental Programme
Our Sacramental Programme takes place when children are in Year 3 and ensures that our baptised children can complete their journey to being full members of the Catholic Church.
During Year 3, our children are given the opportunity to make their Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The preparation for each sacrament takes place during Religious Education lessons and there are also meetings between school, parents, catechists and the parish priest. We also have special books which help us to keep a record of our preparations. These are:
- Making Things Right (Reconciliation)
- Called to His Supper (Holy Communion)
The process begins with an Enrolment Mass at Church, where Father David will bless all the children at the start of their journey. Children will then be prepared to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation, where they will confess their sins to God and be restored to the innocence of their Baptism. The final sacrament in this journey is to receive Jesus in their First Holy Communion (the Eucharist).
Each part of the programme is important, as it forms a part of the child's experience of God which will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We hope this will be a very positive experience, and we trust that parents will support them on every step of the journey.
