Summer

Summer Sunshine!

Summer Term is the best Term in Reception! We have lots planned including hatching chicks, walking to Church to see Father John, a trip to Pizza Express, Afternoon Tea with Barnaby Bear and lots of outdoor adventures.

We are hatching chicks!

At the end of the Spring Term, the Reception children found a lost and lonely egg at Waughbrow Farm. We couldn’t find its mummy so the children decided to hold a ‘Cake and Make Sale’ (see our Gallery for photos) to raise money to buy an incubator that will help the egg hatch.

The eggs are safely in the incubator and are due to hatch soon. We will keep you updated.

End of Year Reports

  • Reports are due to go out on Friday 13th July.
  • We send out a photocopy for parents to write comments on. Please return them to school and we will exchange them for the final official colour version.
  • If you have any questions about the reports there is an Open Evening from 3.30pm to 5pm on Tuesday 17th July.
  • In the report, children are assessed as either Emerging, Expected or Exceeding against the 17 Early Learning Goals. In the File manage section you will find a 'Parents Guide to the ELG' where you will find more details about the Expected Goals.
  • If your child is Emerging don’t panic! It simply means extra support will be put in place in Year One.
  • If your child is Emerging you are invited to book an appointment with the Yr.1 and Reception teachers to discuss next steps and how best to support them.

Sports Day

  • On Thursday 5th July in the morning (reserve sports day – Monday 9th July)
  • All children compete in each race or field activity.
  • Parents, siblings and family are welcome to attend.
  • There will be chairs but it might be worth bringing a picnic blanket.
  • The children will be sent home with their PE kits on Wednesday.  They will need to wear trainers or PE pumps,  green PE shorts, sun hat and a colour top to match their house (see the house point chart or ask your child)
  • Send your child with a water bottle.

Reception Assembly

  • Friday 6th July 9.15am (get their early to get  a good seat)
  • Don’t panic if they get upset!
  • When the assembly finishes there will be time to see the children.
  • Please help them learn their words over the weekend.
  • We hope to showcase the children's talents!
