What have we done so far?

We have already finished our writing unit linked to The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne. All the children engaged with the topic with maturity and respect and I was incredibly proud of some of the writing produced - examples of which can be found below.

Next half term, our writing will focus around biographies, autobiographies and a scary film narrative unit called Alma. In addition to this, we will continue our focus on the World Wars with a shift from WWI to WWII, which will also be reflected by the changing focus of our ARTIS sessions.

In Science, we have already built up our understanding of classification systems, beginning with branching databases (see picture below) and leading to a working knowledge of the Linnaean system of classification.

Keep your eyes peeled, and keep checking back regularly, for some fantastic work on performance poetry inspired by Longfella's 'This is the Place' piece which was written in response to the Manchester terror attack in 2017.
