Autumn

We are Scientists!

We have already been incredibly busy studying our topic of 'Light' in Science lessons. We have investigated factors which affect the clarity and size of shadows, and have quite a considerable understanding of the light spectrum and how our amazing eyes work!

We also created our own shadow puppet theatre performances to dramatise the relationship between Isaac Newton and Robert Hooke, who were both scientists determined to prove how light and colour were linked. They argued a lot and were most certainly not friends!

We are writers!

During the Autumn term, Year 6 will be using several texts and videos to inspire a whole range of creative writing opportunities. Texts will include:

Survivors by David Long

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr

A short film called 'Little Freak' will also be used to inspire a further creative writing project.
